Final event of the year for me was Woofstock benefitting Furry Friends Rescue. Last year was the first time I was the photographer for this fun dog event and it was held at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga. Last years’ photos can be seen here.
Sanborn Park was the location for this year. I recently discovered this Santa Clara County park and have used it for one of my pet photography photo sessions. Its really nice and quiet and during the weekdays you may not see anyone else. Great location for easily distracted dogs, till they see a squirrel or deer.
As people began to arrive I wandered about photographing the volunteers and dogs
Time for the walk to begin so I picked a spot to capture the humans with their dogs guiding them on the path.
My next goal was to photograph the walkers as they came down the trail to the end of the walk, so I made my way from the ending point and started up the trail and I do mean UP. Oh my, there were a couple pretty steep sections where I dragged myself upwards.
I feel like I must have gone 1/2 the walk route until I finally found everyone….right at the top of a slope. I didn’t have a chance to setup properly and made my way carefully back down to a spot to photograph from. I was cautious because I had taken a stumble, stumble, drop and roll at this park during a photo session on a fairly flat area near the visitor center. Landed on top of my camera and broke a dohicky and thingamabob, but was able to continue photographing an easy going English Black Lab.
The weather was comfy and cool amongst the trees, but that hike had me sweaty!
Back to photographing the dogs.
Here’s Lincoln with his mommy Katie. I’ve photographed Lincoln a couple times. Katie’s dad is Dr Dave Reed. We’re going to have Holiday Photo Sessions at their new Reed Animal Hospital Saratoga location.
Time for the band Tin Man to play.
Next up is the costume contest. Lots of dogs and dogs with their people contestants.
Devil with Angel Dog
The overall winner of the contest was Panda Dog. I took this winner off to the side for a more posed portrait
As I ended my day at Woofstock I happened upon Lion Dog, who was very well trained and a great model for me.
