In December I had the opportunity to photograph this pack of 4 at Sanborn County Park in Saratoga. Their mum won my silent auction at Woofstock, also held at Sanborn County Park in early October.
Baxter, Suzy, Eve and Stewart are all rescues. Of the four, Stewart came first and then Eve so Stewart could have a playmate. Baxter is an older fellow and was rescued from Taiwan while Suzy was adopted from Furry Friends Rescue. Suzy is from one of those situations of why do people have a dog. The couple got divorced and neither wanted her. Poor baby!
We scheduled our session date and watched the weather. While it rained the day before, we were able to have our photo session as planned, even though MrHoni did get a bit dirty laying, kneeling and sitting on the not so dry ground. It was a special surprise to find nicely colored leaves at this park since it was near the end of fall.
What I like about Sanborn park is that it more secluded with less distractions – SQUIRREL!!!!….DEER!!!!! Even with less distractions it can be challenging to photograph a group of four. With all clients I stress patience as sometimes it takes a bit to get those furry kids to calm down and relax and pay attention.
I bring many different noise makers and make my own sounds to get their attention. Suzy can’t hear well, so sounds don’t work for her. I used a combination of sounds and motion. She turned out to be the easiest to photograph, especially when we were working on a group photo.
These first two images are of Stewart and Eve and Suzy and Baxter at Peterson Grove, which is decking surrounded by a ring of redwood trees. The grove is often used for wedding ceremonies.
Ok Eve, hold that pose. Don’t move, be perfectly still. Look at what’s coming.
OMG, that butterfly has landed on your nose
Let’s have some bubble fun! Hold that pose, remember don’t budge an inch.
Suzy, look, another butterfly but it’s taking a ride in a bubble!
