I’ve been waiting to write this article about a little pack of three that I photographed with their mommy for her new business Ecohugdog. The website recently went live. Jenya is the young enterprising woman behind this online store of “eco-friendly, natural, organic and cruelty-free products”. Maddie, Charlie and Lisa are her researchers and testers.
Before I do any pet photography photo session, I have a pre-session consultation where we’ll discuss the photo session, pick a location and most importantly I get to meet the dog subjects. Charlie and Lisa are shy while Maddie is very outgoing. Maddie loved me of course. Lots of doggie kisses. During the photo reveal and ordering visit I had Charlie hanging out on my lap. Lisa was more interested in playing with her toys and laying in her bed.
The goal was to provide a set of images that Jenya would use on her website. Originally it was for the About page, but I suggested we try some ideas showing the pups using the products she sells.
This image she chose for the home page showing a sample of the collars and leashes available for purchase. This was my vision image and it came out just as I hoped.
From left to right are Charlie, Maddie and Lisa.
Here’s Lisa playing with one of the Ultimate Dog Frisbee’s. She loves her frisbee.
Here’s Jenya sharing some treats with her dogs. Besides posed images we also were looking to create some causal shots.
Of course we had some posing to do. Found some small white and purple flowers in the grass to add some color. Charlie was such a calm little dog and the perfect little model. Maddie and Lisa also did well they were just a little more active. I think in this shot, I was laying on the ground and Lisa left her pose to come visit me and bark at the camera. Silly girl.
Sanborn park doesn’t have flowers as its mostly a redwood forest, but I had some fun and added some color to this portrait of Maddie.
